- 1 package of cheese tortellini
- 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or flank steak
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded

History :
The Philly cheesesteak, the dish that inspired Cheesesteak Tortellini, has a rich and iconic history rooted in Philadelphia. It was created in the 1930s by Pat Olivieri, a hot dog vendor in South Philadelphia. One day, he decided to sauté some beef and place it on an Italian roll, and a passing cab driver noticed the smell and asked to try one. The idea caught on quickly, and Pat’s original stand eventually evolved into Pat’s King of Steaks, which is still in operation today.
The classic cheesesteak is made with thinly sliced ribeye steak, sautéed onions, and melted cheese, typically provolone or the processed Cheez Whiz. Over time, variations with different cheeses and toppings have emerged, making it a staple of Philly cuisine.
The Cheesesteak Tortellini is a more modern, playful take on this beloved sandwich, combining the savory flavors of the traditional cheesesteak with the comforting textures of pasta. It’s a creative fusion dish, likely born out of the growing trend of mixing classic comfort foods with pasta. The combination of tender tortellini, seasoned beef, sautéed vegetables, and cheese brings the essence of the cheesesteak into a new form, appealing to both pasta and sandwich lovers alike.
