Ingredients:
- 500g filo pastry
- 500g cottage cheese
- 100g ground poppy seeds
- 100g ground walnuts
- 2 apples, grated
- 4 eggs
- 100g sugar
- 200ml milk
- 100g butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
How to Cook:
- Preheat your oven to 180ยฐC (350ยฐF).
- In a bowl, mix the cottage cheese, grated apples, poppy seeds, walnuts, eggs, sugar, milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to make the filling.
- Brush a baking dish with melted butter and layer a sheet of filo pastry at the bottom, brushing it with butter. Repeat this process for about 6 layers.
- Spread a portion of the filling over the filo dough and top with another filo sheet, continuing to layer and fill until all the filling and dough are used up.
- Finish with several layers of filo on top, brushing each layer with butter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Let it cool before slicing and serving. Enjoy this sweet, layered Slovenian delight!
